The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing

Peter over on the main incgamers.com site has put together a hands-on preview of NeoCore’s upcoming action-RPG The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing.  Here’s a snip:

If you’re going to slip the word ‘incredible’ into your game’s title, it demands a certain payoff. Pair it with ‘adventures’ and people are going to be expecting all manner of weirdness. NeoCore’s upcoming game is an action-RPG, so surely The Walking a Few Steps and Slashing at some Monsters with a Sword of Van Helsing would be more accurate?

Perhaps so, but during the three hour act that this single player preview build of the game consisted of, I conversed with a werewolf, did battle with mechanical soldiers dressed in Napoleonic era uniforms and chatted about archaeology with an aquatic fellow named Professor Frog. By most standards, each of those events would qualify as an incredible adventure. I got all of them.

WHAT IS LEGEND OF GRIMROCK – MASTER QUEST?

  • A complete re-working of the entire original PC/Mac/Linux game with tons of new puzzles, updated dungeon designs, unique story elements, and more. It has been referred to as “Grimrock on Steroids”.

FEATURES LIST: (abbreviated)

  • SCALING! Dungeon scales up in difficultly/reward for higher level imported parties, works well with parties starting up to level 25 or so! Import your favorite set of heroes from completing the original game and continue their adventure and advancement!
  • LOOT! Every item now has a loot value, and you can earn “ranks” according to your treasure gathering prowess! Who will be the first to achieve the status of “Lords”?
  • Two new “boss” battles to experience! Are you up for the challenge?
  • Longer Ending – there is more to do after the original final boss fight!
  • Tons of new puzzles, story, dungeon layouts, etc. A whole new “refreshed” Grimrock experience, but still retains the heart and soul of the original game.
